| I just found out that my friend is designing the house for the conductor of Berlin Philharmonic! It is going to be built (as soon as summer 2007) to look like a music box. This is her first house that she designed that has been contracted, and I think she lucked out as far as first customers go! I am super excited for her! (I put a pic of it on facebook...lame I know, but it is too large to upload). With this being said, it may sound cliche and trivial, but I am grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life. You are all so different, but I am so proud of each and every one of you. Whenever you get boggled down by life, just think, if you were your own kid, would you be proud of him/her? Yes, you probably would be. | | |
| Life is pretty good at this moment. I am working for Environment Illinois, a state-wide environmental group (used to be affiliated with Illinois PIRG). I don't like canvassing on the street for people's money, but I like the cause I'm working for and have met some very, very interesting people!
Some include... a jazz pianist (whom who I will try to do some gigs with!), a violist (knows Pikler's friend, will street gig with), inspiring activists, economists, etc. You never know who you will meet- I have met fellow N. Parkers; a man spoke to me in Italian today; a man spoke to me in Korean today; a German man asked me where to eat good pasta after discussing how smart cars rule Europe and Europe > USA... (Not to mention there are some very, very attractive people out there... ; ) )
I love it a lot. I am also the campaign coordinator and an assistant field manager. 8 am - 6 pm. SO MUCH WORK! EXHAUSTING! but I love the people I am working with. They are hilarious and just fun people...
APT life is good! except our toilet leaks piss, and our shower is clogged...so maybe those are downers...so what!
I am currently sipping red wine and eating brie, and will be going out shortly to have drinks with my co-workers. this summer is off to a very, very good start!
Goals for summer- practice, meditate, organize my life (again...or is it still???), not to gossip, slow down, go for long bike rides, focus on God, go hiking, paint/draw more, finish my quartet composition, get street performers permit and gig it up!
Thank you friends for a wonderful semester. I will be living in Logan Square the whole summer so stop by. 2711 N Francisco (between California and Diversey)

| Can you be nostalgic for something you never had? | | |
| I HATE FACEBOOK STALKERS! WHY WHY WHY CAN'T PEOPLE FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH THEIR TIME BESIDES BEING CREEPOS AND PRETENDING THEY ARE FRIENDS WITH SOMEONE WHEN IN REALITY, THAT PERSON A) HAS NO IDEA HE/SHE EXISTS, OR B) REALLY DOESN'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK.
OK I'M DONE VENTING...THIS WEEK IS SO FUCKING STRESSFUL. PLEASE COME SEE THE OPERA. THESE KIDS ARE WORKING HARD. THE ORCHESTRA=SLAVE TO GIANNI STICCHI.

| Home is so Sad by Philip Larkin
Home is so sad. It stays as it was left,
Shaped to the comfort of the last to go
As if to win them back. Instead, bereft
Of anyone to please, it withers so,
Having no heart to put aside the theft
And turn again to what it started as,
A joyous shot at how things ought to be,
Long fallen wide. You can see how it was:
Look at the pictures and the cutlery.
The music in the piano stool. That vase.
So lately I have been thinking about Korea and the importance of one's past... I really want to go soon... I told myself I will go by the time I am 24, and I will go knowing at least enough Korean to get by. I will learn! and it will be soon!
I have been finding myself in a mixed state of being lately...angst and anxiety about the things I want to do in life, frustration with education teachers who cannot teach, life after graduation, knowing my grandpa before he passes, taking care of my mom, escaping to europe or back to nyc...
But there have been good parts to my life lately...getting to know great people who have been here all along, playing violin with Rebecca, great coffee and great conversation, great wine (for someone on a student's budget), leading worship with Brian, teaching violin, tutoring, and going to some inspiring concerts.
I had a great conversation with Mr. Zelle the other day. He suggested that I find a few things that interest me, and pursue them, but really pursue them. I was thinking what I am attracted to right now, and that would be this: World music and culture, fighting discrimination/injustice, and composing.
On another note I am realizing more and more that I am a naturally shy person. My crazyness, I guess, balances this... anyways I am living with Devan, Leigh and Melanie Furrer this summer and I am always open to good conversation, good music, good food, and good drink. cheers. | | |
